Terms of Use

Updated

These terms cover the objtostl.com website and the in-browser OBJ to STL converter. By using the site you agree to them. They are a practical statement of how the tool is offered, not a claim that a court has reviewed them. If you need a contract for a business workflow, do not treat this free page as that contract.

The service

The site lets you convert a Wavefront OBJ mesh to STL in your browser. Binary STL is the default and is free. There is no account and no payment step. We may change, pause, or remove the site. We do not promise that it will stay online, that a particular host will serve it, or that a future version will behave the same.

As-is

The converter and the guides are provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that a file will parse, that the triangle count will match another program, that the scale will match your intent, or that a printer will produce a sound part.

Conversion is not repair

Exporting STL does not make a mesh manifold, watertight, or printable. Holes, flipped faces, zero-area triangles, intersecting shells, and paper-thin walls pass through. A bounding box is a measurement of the coordinates we wrote, not a certification of wall thickness or clearance. You are responsible for checking the STL in your slicer before a print. If the slicer warns, fix the mesh in a modeler. Do not treat a successful download as a passed inspection.

Units

STL does not store a unit. The tool scales coordinates into a millimeter-sized number space because slicers usually read 1 unit as 1 mm. You choose whether the OBJ was millimeters, centimeters, meters, or inches, and you choose any extra scale. A wrong choice can produce a part that is 10×, 25.4×, or 1000× off. Read the bounding box before you print.

Your files and your rights

You keep whatever rights you already have in your OBJ and in the STL you download. We do not take a license to your mesh, because the mesh is not uploaded to us. You confirm that you have the rights needed to convert and to print the file, including any copyright, trademark, or other limit on the model. Do not use the tool to process a file you are not allowed to copy. We cannot police files we never receive, and that does not move the duty onto us.

Acceptable use

Do not attack the site, probe it for an upload endpoint that is not there, or overload the static host. Do not use the guides or the tool to plan harm. Local conversion of a file you are allowed to use is the expected use. Automated scraping that degrades the host is not.

No professional advice

Guides are educational. They are not engineering sign-off, manufacturing advice, or legal advice. A figurine and a functional part do not share the same risk. If a part matters for safety, have a qualified person check it. Do not rely on this site for that check.

Mesh code uses Three.js under the MIT License. That license, not these terms, covers Three.js. Links to slicer downloads are optional and leave this site. We are not those vendors. Affiliate tracking is not active at launch. If it is turned on later, it will be disclosed, and it will not block or delay the STL download.

Advertising

Pages do not include an ad implementation at launch. We may add advertising later. Ads, if they appear, will not be a condition of downloading the STL.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator of objtostl.com is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost prints, filament, machine time, data, or profits, arising from the site or from a file you convert. If a jurisdiction does not allow that limit, the liability is limited to the amount you paid to use the converter. That amount is zero.

Applicable law and contact

These terms are written for a site operated as objtostl.com. They do not name a registered company, a street address, or a venue, because this launch page is not that filing. If a formal operator is published later, these terms can be updated to name them. Questions about these terms can go to the address on the contact page. That page does not create an account and it does not accept a mesh upload.

Languages

These terms are published in several languages. If a translation disagrees with the English text, the English text is the reference.
